Calving season is behind us for another year, and it’s been one of the strongest on record for RedStone. Calving percentage came in above our long-term average, with minimal assistance required across the herd — a good sign that the fertility and structural traits we’ve been selecting for are showing through.
Calves hit the ground strong and were up and feeding quickly in almost every case, with only a small handful needing any extra attention. Given the size of the herd now calving down each year, that’s a result we’re genuinely proud of.
A few standout calves are already turning heads — we’ll be keeping a close eye on these as they grow, with an eye toward next year’s sale draft and future herd sires. Weaning will give us our first real indication of how this year’s joining decisions have paid off.
